How We Build Systems
"If we let you build something critical, how do we know it won’t become technical debt?"
Designed to be easy to evolve as the business changes.
Our Approach
We don’t start with technology. We start with how the business actually operates.
Most bespoke systems fail because they:
- XCopy SaaS patterns that don’t fit
- XIgnore existing systems
- XOver-engineer from day one
We take a different approach: practical systems, built to evolve.
Modern Delivery Practices
We use modern DevOps practices and AI-assisted tooling to improve delivery speed, consistency, and quality.
AI is applied as an engineering aid - not a replacement for experience or judgement.
Architecture: Cloud-Native by Default
All systems are designed to run securely and reliably on modern cloud platforms, selected based on the requirements of the system rather than a single vendor.
Where appropriate, this includes Microsoft Azure. For lighter-weight platforms, rapid builds, or application-first systems, this may also include alternative hosting and deployment platforms.
Typical architecture includes:
- Web-based front-ends (desktop, tablet, and mobile-friendly)
- API-driven back-end services
- Cloud-hosted databases and object storage
- Secure identity and access control
- Role-based permissions and audit logging
Systems are designed so that:
- Components can be replaced or extended without a full rebuild
- Integrations are explicit and documented, not hard-coded
- Scaling is intentional and predictable, not accidental
Integration-Led Design
Very few businesses operate in isolation. We design systems to integrate with your existing landscape.
Core Integrations
- • Existing line-of-business platforms
- • Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Teams)
- • Third-party APIs
- • Legacy systems (where needed)
Connectivity
- • Webhooks for real-time updates
- • APIs for synchronised data
- • Event-driven patterns
- • Reduced manual intervention
Security & Data
- • Centralised Auth (Entra ID)
- • Least-privilege access
- • Clear data ownership
- • Audit logs for critical actions
Delivery Model
01. Discovery
Before writing code.
Discovery First, Always
We map real workflows, identify bottlenecks, confirm integration points, and define what not to build. This avoids wasted effort and over-complexity.
02. Delivery
Incremental & Visible.
Incremental Delivery
We do not disappear for six months and return with a surprise. We work in clear milestones with incremental releases, allowing for early feedback and adjustments based on real use.
03. Ownership
You are not locked in.
Ownership & Support
We provide full documentation, clear handover options, and ongoing support if required. Systems should outlive suppliers.
When Bespoke Is the Right Choice
- Off-the-shelf software forces workarounds
- Processes are business-critical
- Integration is essential
- Competitive advantage matters
"If SaaS is the better option, we’ll say so."
